The Halls Of The Faithful

After passing what Rigmor and the guardian agreed had been a ceremony chamber of some kind back in the Mythic Era when the Dragons and their priest ruled the lands. They continued downward and could hear battle between the dark elf and something else as he was cursing them for impeding his way forward.

The guardian drew his sword, he felt his blood begin to boil with some surge of energy then looked back at Rigmor who had already drawn her bow and notched an arrow once she saw him slide his blade out. She looked at him concerned, “Are you okay guardian, you look kind of pale or maybe translucent in color.” He responded, “Really! I am just preparing for what is coming ahead. I think I am okay but I told you how this place affects somehow.”

Rigmor blinked then said, “Okay guardian, you lead and I’ll cover your back!” He grinned a bit then turned forward and began to make his way towards the sound of battle. Rigmor and the guardian came upon a fierce battle that ended with the dark elf falling to the floor of the chamber as a Draugr, one of the dragon priests faithful was still protecting these halls.

Battle Of The Dead

He must have been a mage when he was still living as he was using a frost spell on the guardian and Rigmor was already injured from the battle that lead them both to this point. The guardian called out to Rigmor, “Be prepared to jump out of the way, I am going to bait it forward to spring their own trap on this Draugr Mage.” Rigmor replied, “Really, you’re going to…”, then she saw him prepare to strike but then stepped aside just a the Draugr stepped onto the pressure plate and the gate with its spikes begin to swing forward.

Rigmor rolled out of the way sideways curling her bow underneath and coming up to a kneeling position with arrow drawn and ready to let loose. But the force of the gate swinging with all that force behind it impaled the Draugr and sent it flying forward past them. They stood up and examined the dead dark elf, his name war Arvel, an adventurer and thief. He had a journal with his notes about this place in it.

Rigmor spoke to the guardian, “According to his journal that golden claw was stolen from the trader because it contains a key on it that will open a door of some type in the hall of stories. This door according to this leads us to something of great power that the Nords have hidden there. At least that is what this Arvel thought.”

The guardian said, “Okay, let’s pack up the claw and journal and continue on.” As they continue through the halls that battle with the Draugr that guarded this barrow became consistent and intense. Rigmor had given up on her bow and pulled her two-handed sword out now and both were hacking their way forward through the halls determined to reach the Hall of Stories and this door spoken of in the journal.
